Hey all,

This is a very important journal, and I would like you all to read this. As you all know, Monday was my thirty-seventh birthday, and while I had a good day, I also decided to try to improve on myself mentally (and sooner or later physically). One thing that I have to realize that when I draw a kaiju of my own design, I should be allowed to go with what I WANT, instead of bowing down to some people's suggestions. Of course, I don't mind a suggestion or feedback when I get stuck on a design, that is fine, but I seriously hate it when I decide to draw something for fun, and I'm still debating on making it a canon monster in the first place, no less, and someone suddenly suggest a "Shin Godzilla-ish tri-jaw design", when it doesn't fit with the character at all and I just don't care for the concept being included for the character.

Look, at the end of the day, this is my kaiju, my characters, and my story/vision. You can leave your comments and stuff, but I have every right as the creator of these kaiju to completely ignore you! Oh, and please don't whine when I don't choose a design you like. If you like it so much, why don't you draw it yourself or commission someone to do it for you, because I'm tired of you badgering me into making My kaiju into YOUR kaiju. That just kills my motivation, and it's a big pet peeve of mine.

Anyway, enough of me being a prick for one night/morning, as it's way over my bed time.

Talk to you later,
Jake

I generally never ask or even take opinions on characters or really any designs I do unless I don't have any real ideas. and even then, I will only ask people whose opinions I really trust, and who have a pretty good handle on what my design philosphy is. Mainly that is my friend Jon. But if I know already what I'm going to do, then I don't take suggestions with the exception of if after doing the design I'm not certain that it is really what I want. That's rare, and usually is the result of the first case of not really having a solid direction for the design to start with. My comic book character Crimson Angel has a very old school costume, and it's made by her(Jenna is a cosplayer nerd), and it's deliberately old school. I've had SO many people complain that it should be leather, or skimpier. One chick even complained it was sexually explicit(go look at any picture of her in my gallery and see what you think... but it's not), and against all the complaints, it's stayed the same for going on 15 years since I first concieved the character. And it will not change. It's EXACTLY what I wanted. I basically just politely say no when people offer unasked for suggestions, and if they get snotty I simply ignore them. They'll get over it.
